So Valentines Day is in a couple of weeks - scary, we know! But we thought today would be the ideal opportunity to show some of the most infamous killer couples from history.
There have been a fair few killer couples that to look at them you just wouldn't think it - but we're going to give a bit of a basic insight into their relationships and the crimes that went along with them!
Myra Hindley and Ian Brady –
The most chilling murders of the 1960’s still reverberate today. Together, Hindley and Brady kidnapped, sexually assaulted, and murdered five children ranging in age from 17 to 10. After strangling or stabbing their victims, the two would sometimes take pictures with their bodies or grave sites.
Bonnie and Clyde –
In January 1930 a chance meeting at a mutual friend’s house in Dallas sparked one of the most romanticised criminal pairings. The attraction between petite Bonnie Parker and armed robber Clyde Barrow was instant but the results were fatal for more than 13 people who got in their way.
Fred and Rose West –
In February 1994, they unearthed Fred and Rose’s ‘Missing’ daughter Heather West's bones under a patio in the back garden. The head had been severed and the bones had been chopped up to reduce the space in which the skeleton could be buried. The police continued digging and what they found was more terrible than words can express. Over the days which followed, the skeletal remains of eight other young women were found, each under the ground at the home of Mr and Mrs West.
Suzan and Michael Carson –
In March 1981, 22-year-old Keryn Barnes, an aspiring actress from Georgia who had been the Carsons' roommate, was found dead in their shared apartment. Her skull had been crushed and her body was wrapped in a blanket and hidden in the basement. Evidence suggested that Keryn Barnes had been killed by someone she knew, and the Carsons were prime suspects, but disappeared before the body was found. The Carsons later confessed to killing Keryn Barnes, because Suzan had decided she was a witch and had to be killed.
Fernandez and Beck -
The “Lonely Hearts Killers” murdered at least 20 women between 1947 and 1949. Smartly dressed but balding, Fernandez hooked a ready stream of women. They were convicted on just one murder and died in the electric chair on the same day at New York’s Sing Sing prison in 1951. Both professed their love for the other before going to the chair.
Gerald and Charlene Gallego -
The couple were responsible for a two-year reign of terror that began in 1978 in which 10 victims were kept as sex slaves and then murdered. The first two victims were enticed into a van before being raped, beaten with a tyre lever and shot in the head. Their bound bodies were dumped in ditches. It was a pattern the couple repeated until their van registration number was connected to one of the murders. Most of their victims were teenagers, one was pregnant.
Ray and Faye Copeland –
The seemingly harmless grandparents had a rich criminal history. Copeland was a petty thief and served jail sentences for stealing livestock and for forgery. His wife was a convicted fraudster. The couple used crime to help feed their several children and used drifters to sell the cattle they stole as they had become too easily recognised at livestock markets around Missouri.
Paul Bernardo and Karla Homolka -
Their wedding photographs are picture perfect but handsome accountant Paul Bernardo and Karla Homolka had a distorted view of life and death. They formed a beautiful but deadly team and had already killed before their fairytale white wedding near Niagara Falls in Canada.
